CDTA7547 “Supporting Investment on Water Security in River Basins” primarily aims at supporting River Basin Organizations (RBOs) in the Asian river basins which are implementing Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). The TA is conducted by Japan Water Agency (JWA) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) targeting three river basins: i) Solo River, Indonesia, ii) Bagmati River, Nepal and iii) Syrdarya River, Uzbekistan. Network of Asian River Basin Organizations (NARBO) is partially collaborating with this TA in the capacity development portion. (>>See more)

 

 


 

“Roadmaps for River Basin Investments

“Twinning Program between JWA and MARD”

12 delegates from Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and MARD-related organizations in Viet Nam visited Japan Water Agency (JWA) from 14 to 21 September 2012 to take part in Twining Program, which has been conducted between Viet Nam NARBO and JWA since April 2008 for the purpose of enhancing the capacity of water resources management.… (>>See more)

 

 



 

NARBO contributed “Workshop on Meta-Guidelines for Water and Climate Change Adaptation”

“Workshop on Meta-Guidelines for Water and Climate Change Adaptation” was held in the University of Tokyo, from October 1st to 2nd, 2012. This workshop aimed to review key issues and determine the basic direction for the establishment of guidelines, which help the practitioners to utilize climate change projection methodologies, tools for vulnerability and impact assessment, and project screening. The guidelines also provide instruction to them about adaptation strategies and activities. (>>See more)

 


 

Report of 7th NARBO IWRM training in Sri Lanka

The training was held at Mas Fabric Park in Thuthiriya, which is located around 65km northeast from Colombo, from Nov.2nd to 9th 2012.

26 participants, who work for RBOs(River Basin Organizations) or NARBO government, came from 8 countries(India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Thailand) and were expected to study and enhance their knowledge about IWRM(Integrated Water Resources Management) through Mahaweli River basin experiences. Asia Water Week 2013

ADB is organizing Asia Water Week 2013 to deepen and expand analytical work in Asia’s water sector to advance inclusive policy reforms and strengthen support to priority programs and projects. The analytical work will provide the basis for sustained public investment and increased mobilization of private sector investment and expertise.

 

Asia Water Week 2013 has for its overarching theme "Securing Water for All". The conference will cover crosscutting topics such as climate change, water-food-energy nexus, and disaster management as well as sub-sector specific discussions, including water supply and sanitation, water resources and environment, and agriculture and irrigation. The ADB Water Prize 2013 award will also be presented.

 

The conference will enable participants, including clients, ADB staff and invited specialists, to exchange knowledge on water sector issues, technologies, and to identify clients’ emerging priorities. New water sector initiatives will be announced, water sector professionals and leaders recognized, and innovations in the water sector encouraged.

 

The conference is open to representatives of ADB members, development partners, academe, research organizations, NGO/CSO representatives, private sector partners and the media. General registration opens on 1 December 2012. There is no registration fee; however only registered participants will be able to join the sessions. All participants will be responsible for their travel expenses, accommodations, and other costs related to their participation. Limited funding is available on a case-by-case basis for participants from ADB members.

According to NARBO Charter, RBO member are obliged to make an annual report and send it to Secretary General once a year within 3 months after their yearly fiscal year. NARBO secretariat will send the format of annual report soon. Please fill in the format and send it back to NARBO secretariat

In 2012, we’ll have many large scale NARBO events, such as NARBO Regional Meeting in Bangkok as Technical Session of the 2nd Asia-Pacific Water Summit and the 5th NARBO General Meeting.
